Rogue Spirit, an anime-inspired 3D rogue-lite action game, will soon bring procedurally-generated and puzzlingly possessive gameplay to Steam as the game is now confirmed to release on Steam Early Access this August 25th.
Published by 505 Games and developed by Kids With Sticks, Rogue Spirit is a visually stunning 3D rogue-lite single player game with light stealth elements. With randomized perks and varying gameplay styles, no single playthrough of Rogue Spirit will feel the same.
The developers have released a new free demo so that players can try out this new roguelite title. The demo will be available during the Steam Next Fest (16th June-22nd June) and up until the game launches in Early Access.
Rogue Spirit builds upon the rogue-lite genre, typically seen in a 2D perspective, and adapts it into a gorgeously rendered 3D world inspired by anime, Japanese and Southeast Asian cultures. Players will assume the form of ghost of the former Prince of Midra, possessing enemy characters and absorbing their skills to free the land from a looming, ever-present evil threat.
The world of Rogue Spirit is everchanging, making each run of the game feel personal depending on the player’s chosen playstyle. Traversing through 10 procedurally generated levels within five unique biomes, the rogue spirit of Rogue Spirit absorbs enemy abilities utilizing the game’s possession mechanic, taking on 20 distinctive enemies, each with their own specialized abilities, weapons and upgrades. Each defeated foe’s key characteristics and possessions can be absorbed and adapted into the player’s character. Whether it be to get up close and personal or fighting from a distance, player choice is endless in this creative take on the rogue-lite genre.
