Developer Odd Bug Studio and publisher United Label have released Blood and Brine, a free post-game expansion for action-RPG Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter. Available starting today, August 21, 2026, the update is accessible on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
The expansion introduces Hardshell Brook, a new coastal region featuring an 11-quest story arc, 10 new boss encounters, nine armour sets, a fishing mechanic, and fresh soundtrack compositions. Voice actor Doug Cockle returns to provide narration for the expansion.
Narratively, the content picks up following the completion of the main campaign. When shipwrecked sailors Jaimie and Sam arrive in the Ratdom, protagonist Arlo agrees to help them build an aquarium to raise funds for a new vessel. Players must navigate fishing mechanics in hazardous waters to collect aquatic creatures, uncovering hidden details behind the sailors' origins as the exhibit grows.
Blood and Brine also incorporates six crossover armour sets styled after prominent independent video games, reimagined in Odd Bug Studio’s hand-drawn art style. The cosmetics include outfits based on Blasphemous (The Penitent One), Cult of the Lamb (The Lamb), DAVE THE DIVER (Dave), Death’s Door (The Crow), Moonlighter (Will), and Beyond GalaxyLand (Boom Boom).
Odd Bug Studio CEO Jack Bennett described the expansion as a gift to the game's player base, highlighting the collaboration with partner indie developers to bring crossover equipment into the series' universe.
To access the new content, players are required to complete the main storyline of Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter. To coincide with the launch, the base game is available at a 60 percent discount across participating digital storefronts for a limited time.
Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter - Blood and Brine is available now as a free update for existing owners of the game across console and PC platforms.
