Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV will now officially launch on December 3, 2026, developer KING Art Games and publisher PLAION have announced. Eager strategy enthusiasts who secure the Commander Edition will gain early access to deploy onto the galactic battlefield starting November 30.
The decision to adjust the release schedule comes as the studio takes additional time to fine-tune the real-time strategy experience. KING Art Games is currently focusing its efforts on rigorous performance optimization, resolving technical bugs, polishing overall gameplay mechanics, and integrating valuable feedback gathered during recent community playtesting sessions.
Development continues at full momentum, and strategy fans can look forward to a steady stream of updates over the coming months. The development team plans to roll out comprehensive Battlefield Reports, detailed gameplay showcases, and feature deep dives to share deeper insights into the project.
Creative Director Jan Theysen explained that as the project entered its final stages of development, the studio recognized clear opportunities to further elevate the game and fully deliver the ambitious vision originally intended. The additional time ensures players receive a smooth, polished experience from the moment they launch.
Alongside the revised timing, the team revealed an updated Year One roadmap outlining extensive post-launch support. Ongoing updates will bring back the beloved Crusade Mode, alongside new multiplayer maps, gameplay modes, additional Commanders, and an intuitive Mission Editor. Furthermore, two expansive story expansions will broaden the overarching narrative across the planet Kronus while introducing an entirely new playable faction to join the brutal galactic conflict.
Dawn of War IV promises to deliver a rich, authentic sci-fi RTS experience set within Games Workshop’s legendary universe. Players can command four powerful factions across sweeping non-linear single-player campaigns, test their tactical mastery in intense multiplayer battles, and enjoy popular game modes including Last Stand and Skirmish. Pre-orders for both the standard release and the Commander Edition are currently live ahead of the winter arrival.
