Battlefield Studios and Electronic Arts have officially released a cinematic trailer for their upcoming Top Gun collaboration update for Battlefield 6. The crossover content, which marks part of the game's largest seasonal update to date, is scheduled for release on Tuesday 18 August 2026.

The update introduces high-octane aerial combat features alongside new aircraft, including the F-74A Seacat and the F/A-81F Super Spectre jets. Players will also have the opportunity to take flight on the return of the classic Wake Island map, tailored specifically to blend Battlefield's large-scale military sandbox with Top Gun's signature cinematic action.

Two dedicated game modes are arriving with the update: Carrier Strike and Gauntlet: Fighter Sweep. Both modes are engineered to highlight large-scale dogfighting, naval warfare, and tactical air combat across expansive ocean battlefields.

In addition to the new hardware and modes, the crossover brings recognizable characters from the film franchise into the game. Players will be able to take control of character models based on Lt. Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw (Miles Teller), Lt. Robert "Bob" Floyd (Lewis Pullman), and Adm. Solomon "Warlock" Bates (Charles Parnell).

The collaboration comes as Battlefield 6 continues its post-launch seasonal content strategy, expanding the long-running first-person shooter franchise. The series, which has surpassed 100 million players globally over its two-decade history, continues to build on its core gameplay loop of vehicular combat and large-scale warfare.

The cinematic trailer showcasing the F-74A Seacat, F/A-81F Super Spectre, and Carrier Strike gameplay is available to watch now across official franchise channels. The Battlefield 6 x Top Gun crossover update will be available to download for all players on 18 August 2026.
