Developer Seed Sparkle Lab has announced that its cozy farming life-simulator, Starsand Island, will officially leave Steam Early Access and Xbox Game Preview on 18 August 2026. The full launch expands the title's reach to PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 alongside its existing platforms, bringing a comprehensive suite of new content and features to the game.
The 1.0 update introduces online multiplayer, allowing up to four players to experience island life together. Cooperative activities include exploring landscapes, diving into ancient ruins to battle monsters, fishing, and collaborative building. Participating in multiplayer modes yields a dedicated currency redeemable for exclusive items in the in-game multiplayer shop.
Social and relationship mechanics have also been expanded. Nineteen non-playable characters now feature new three-heart and five-heart questlines, unlocking narrative content as players build stronger connections. Furthermore, the game’s 14 romanceable characters receive additional dating activities, including picnics, kite flying, and arcade minigames.
The launch update introduces a seasonal event, the Autumn Pumpkin Carnival. Featuring a dedicated storyline and event-exclusive quests, the carnival includes activities such as catching glowing jellyfish, cultivating event pumpkins, and feeding livestock special feed to produce candy. Completing event objectives rewards players with limited-time cosmetics, outfits, makeup, emotes, recipes, and decorative furniture.
Drawing aesthetic and thematic inspiration from traditional Eastern philosophy and the Chinese countryside, Starsand Island combines farming, crafting, fishing, and animal husbandry within a dynamic four-season cycle. Beyond the central farming loop, players can explore the surrounding wilderness and Moonlit Forest to gather rare materials and interact with local wildlife.
