The wait is officially over for indie gaming fans. After a successful stint in Early Access late last year, Seattle-based developer One More Game has announced that its frantic third-person shooter roguelite, SWAPMEAT, has officially launched into version 1.0. The major milestone release is available today for PC, Mac, and is fully Steam Deck Verified for high-octane action on the go.

The jump to version 1.0 introduces a massive content update designed to challenge seasoned players and newcomers alike. Travelers can expect entirely new planets to explore, a wealth of fresh mutations to experiment with, numerous quality-of-life enhancements, and the highly anticipated introduction of the game's final boss.

In SWAPMEAT, players step into the malleable skin of Squishy, a shape-shifting operative working for Rangus Corp. The core gameplay loop revolves around a wild, body-snatching mechanic: players must snatch and swap their enemies' body parts—including heads, torsos, and legs—to steal their unique powers. With each piece of anatomy carrying distinct abilities, players can create thousands of strategic combinations to beef up their builds and outmaneuver hordes of meaty monsters.

The studio also dropped a major surprise alongside the launch announcement, revealing that Grammy-nominated composer Austin Wintory—celebrated for his iconic scores on Journey, Flow, and Hades II—is the musical mastermind behind the game's soundtrack.

Whether diving into the chaos alone or fighting alongside friends, SWAPMEAT offers a highly customizable loop. Progression features permanent weapon upgrades, rank increases, and scaling difficulty levels that cater to casual exploration or high-stakes endurance tests against elite "Hunters." Coupled with random world events and optional side activities, the developer promises that no two runs will ever feel the same.

One More Game was founded in 2019 by industry veterans Patrick Wyatt and Jamie Stormbreaker, whose collective resumes include genre-defining franchises like Warcraft, Diablo, League of Legends, and Guild Wars. SWAPMEAT 1.0 is available to purchase now on Steam.
