Z-Software has officially announced Tunnels of Death, the second DLC campaign for the tactical single-player title Dustwind: Resistance. Arriving just under a year since the game’s initial launch, this new expansion is scheduled for release in June 2026 across PC (Steam), Xbox, and PlayStation. It follows the successful Canyon Cross DLC, further broadening the lore of this unforgiving post-apocalyptic world.
A Brutal Prequel
Tunnels of Death serves as a prequel, taking place 20 years before the events of the main campaign. Players will step into the boots of Harlan—father of the main game’s protagonist, Jake—during his prime. Accompanied by fan-favorite characters Bob McCoy, Sgt. Perkins, and Governor Rodriguez, the squad finds themselves trapped in a gang-infested neighborhood where the only path to safety lies beneath the surface.
The expansion shifts the tone toward survival horror, as players must navigate abandoned underground tunnels. In the suffocating darkness, something far more lethal than rival gangs lurks: death has taken on distorted, horrific forms that hunt the squad through every corridor. The narrative poses a grim question: will the squad find an exit, or will this sadistic labyrinth grind them to dust?
New Mechanics and Content
The DLC offers approximately four hours of gameplay and introduces several fresh elements to the Dustwind formula. Across four new missions, players will encounter never-before-seen mutants and utilize a brand-new weapon added to the arsenal. The expansion emphasizes tactical movement and resource management as players explore the map while fleeing from a persistent, looming threat.
