In a major announcement during the recent Xbox Partner Showcase, publisher NACON and developer Teyon—the studio behind the critically acclaimed RoboCop: Rogue City—revealed their most ambitious project yet. Hunter: The Reckoning – Deathwish marks the grand return of the iconic World of Darkness franchise to the world of video games, ending a twenty-year hiatus for the beloved license.

A Dark Vision of New York

Set to launch in Summer 2027, Deathwish is a first-person, single-player action RPG that casts players as "Hunters"—ordinary humans who have pierced the veil of reality to discover that vampires, werewolves, and supernatural horrors secretly govern the world.

The game features an expansive, open-world recreation of New York City, where players must track their prey through crowded streets filled with oblivious citizens. Much like the original tabletop RPG, the experience emphasizes deep customization and tactical preparation. Players must investigate monster lairs and decide whether to utilize brute force, high-tech weaponry, or subtle stealth to survive encounters with creatures far more powerful than themselves.

Narrative Depth and Companionship

Teyon is leaning heavily into the "Role-Playing" aspect of the genre. As players navigate the campaign, they will:

Form a Hunter Cell: Team up with five unique companions, each featuring their own backstories, specialized skills, and distinct personalities.

Build Relationships: Players can foster deep bonds and even pursue romances with their teammates, adding emotional stakes to the perilous hunt.

Make Impactful Choices: Every dialogue option and mission outcome can shift the story's trajectory. These decisions don't just affect the ending; they can damage your reputation with allies or draw unwanted attention from law enforcement.

Jess Lanzillo, Creative Director at White Wolf, praised Teyon’s "deep understanding" of the setting, noting that the studio’s vision perfectly embodies the grit of the World of Darkness.
