Yokohama-based developer Arc System Works has officially announced its latest venture into the world of quirky, high-stakes strategy: Goritaire. A single-player, gorilla-multiplying card game, the title is scheduled to swing onto consoles, PC, and mobile devices on March 19, 2026.
Following in the hoofprints of its predecessor, the hit sheep-multiplying game Shephy, Goritaire is the digital adaptation of the popular board game created by renowned designer and illustrator Pawn. Starting today, official store pages are live, allowing fans to get a glimpse of this unique "survival of the fittest" card mechanic.
The Great Banana Balance
The premise of Of Goritaire is deceptively simple: players must expand their gorilla troop and grow their jungle habitat until they have seven or more gorillas lined up on the field. However, in the unforgiving wild, growth comes at a cost. Players must meticulously manage their supply of bananas—the troop's primary food source.
The stakes are punishingly high. While you strive to fill the jungle with primates, a single misstep in resource management results in instant catastrophe. If even one gorilla goes without a banana, the troop suffers a total collapse, leading to an immediate "Game Over."
A "Go! Go!" Collaboration
In a fittingly primate-themed crossover, Arc System Works also revealed a collaboration with Go! Go! Curry!, the famous Japanese restaurant chain known for its "Kanazawa Curry." The chain’s official mascot, Goriko, will make a special appearance as a playable card, adding a touch of culinary flair to the jungle’s strategic depth.
With its blend of whimsical illustration and "one-more-try" difficulty, Goritaire explores the existential questions: Where did gorillas come from? Where are they going? More importantly, can you keep them fed?
