The digital horror phenomenon that turned a local Chilean joke into a global Steam sensation is finally making the leap to living rooms. The Last Train: Baquedano, created by the Santiago-based Plastic Frog Games, is set to arrive on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch this Thursday, January 22.
The Birth of an Urban Myth
Set within a hyper-realistic recreation of Santiago’s actual Baquedano metro station—complete with authentic field recordings of the subway’s unique soundscape—the game plunges players into an intense, claustrophobic nightmare. The antagonist is the terrifying Tung Tung Tung Sahur, a creature born from a viral internet meme that has since morphed into a genuine icon of modern Latin American horror.
"We didn’t invent fear—we took it from everyday life," says Matías Avilés, co-founder of Plastic Frog Games. What began as a social media joke evolved into a psychological reflection on urban anxiety and virality. The game's unique blend of realism and absurdity has earned it comparisons to indie darlings like Iron Lung and MADiSON.
A Global Indie Success Story
Since its initial release on Steam, the title has garnered hundreds of "Very Positive" reviews and fueled thousands of viral reaction videos on TikTok and YouTube. Streamers worldwide have been drawn to its short but punchy 45-to-60-minute gameplay loop, which offers four distinct endings.
Distributed internationally by Dojo System, the new console versions arrive fully optimized for a premium experience, featuring:
Spatial 3D Audio: Designed for immersive headphone play.
Haptic Feedback: Adaptive vibration support for modern controllers.
Global Localization: Support for eight languages, including English, Spanish, Japanese, and Portuguese.
Launch Details
To celebrate the launch, Dojo System is releasing an exclusive interview with creator Diego Gajardo on January 22, discussing the Chilean indie scene’s rapid growth. Priced at just €7.99 / $7.99, The Last Train: Baquedano is positioned to be the first major indie horror "must-play" of 2026.
