Legendary game creator Peter Molyneux and his studio, 22cans, have officially announced the release date for their highly anticipated new project, Masters of Albion. The "God Game" reimagined is set to launch exclusively on PC via Steam on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at 18:00 BST.
A Genre Reborn
Masters of Albion marks a return to form for Molyneux, the mind behind iconic titles such as Dungeon Keeper, Black & White, and Fable. To bring this vision to life, he has reunited with a "dream team" of industry veterans, including Mark Healey, Russell Shaw, Iain Wright, and Kareem Ettouney. Together, they have crafted a world that blends strategy, simulation, and real-time defense.
Set in a land undergoing an industrial revolution, the story follows the tension between a new age of manufacturing and a dark, mystical past. Players must navigate this divide, using their "God Hand" to shape the future—or sow chaos.
Build by Day, Defend by Night
The gameplay loop of Masters of Albion focuses on the contrast between "cosy creativity" and brutal survival:
Creative Freedom: As a god, you have absolute authority to design every structure, manage your workforce, and customize your town without the frustration of timers or waiting periods.
The Power of Possession: In a unique twist, you can leave the heavens to possess and control any living being on the ground—be it a hero, a worker, or even a chicken—to explore the world and fight directly.
Nocturnal Survival: When the sun sets, Albion becomes a battlefield. Players must utilize defensive turrets, walls, and god powers like lightning and fire to protect their citizens from the malevolent creatures that emerge from the dark.
"Masters of Albion is the culmination of my life’s work," says Molyneux. "It’s a game that brings God Games into the modern landscape and puts the genre firmly back on the map."
Players can Wishlist the game on Steam now to prepare for the April launch.
