After six years of meticulous development, husband-and-wife duo Tim and Megan Bungeroth are ready to share their "labor of love" with the world. On January 14, 2026, the highly anticipated indie title Air Hares—accompanied by an original digital comic book—will officially launch on Steam.
A Different Kind of Shooter
While many retro-style games focus on destruction, Air Hares flips the script. Inspired by the creators’ personal journey through infertility and their eventual victory through science, the game is a "bullet hell" experience centered on creating life rather than taking it.
Players step into the cockpit with Captain Rabbo, a heroic bunny tasked with seeding and watering the carrot crops of Winrose. Instead of blasting enemies, your mission is to nurture the land while skillfully dodging the relentless "Gale Gang" falcon goons. It is a narrative of hope born from desolation, wrapped in vibrant pixel art and high-octane gameplay.
Gameplay and Features
Air Hares offers a challenging yet family-friendly experience across four distinct stages. Each stage consists of three farming levels followed by a climactic boss fight against unique avian adversaries. To survive the increasing speed and chaotic weather elements like lightning and wind, players must master maneuvers such as:
The Barrel Roll for quick evasion.
The Parry to deflect incoming threats.
The Loop-de-loop for tactical positioning.
The game also features a dedicated co-op mode, where a second player can join as Dirk Doggo, Captain Rabbo’s loyal companion. This mode was designed specifically with parents and children in mind, making it an ideal entry point for young gamers.
Launch Day Bundles
On January 14, fans can immerse themselves fully in the world of Winrose. The launch includes:
The Air Hares Game: Featuring solo and co-op modes.
Comic Book Vol. 1: Floppy Flights of Fancy, a 50-page digital adventure.
Original Soundtrack: A collection of retro-inspired tracks, including a bonus original vocal song.
Join Tim, Megan, and their crew this January to experience a story where science, nature, and gaming collide.
