VR indie developer Neat Corp (Budget Cuts) and publisher Creature have released a free demo for their upcoming Norse-inspired VR roguelike adventure, CROSSINGS, on Steam ahead of Steam Next Fest. The full game is slated for release on Quest and SteamVR later this year.
CROSSINGS plunges players into the ever-changing landscape of the Norse afterlife on a quest for vengeance and survival. Players will explore deep caves, ancient ruins, and misty forests, with each environment newly formed on every run. The game’s core loop is a mix of high-stakes exploration and physical, action-packed combat.
The immersive VR combat system challenges players to Block, Dodge, and Strike down enemies like Trolls, Draugr, and Ghosts. Players will wield ancient weapons like blades, axes, and the powerful Bow of Nör, while also learning to cast mighty spells using a unique gesture-based power system. With every death, the roguelike structure encourages learning from past mistakes and claiming new altar-born powers to craft a unique fighting style.
Adding a unique twist to the solitary adventure is the option for seamless, wordless co-op. Players can encounter and join fellow lost souls in the afterlife or enter the world with a chosen compatriot, pushing forward together to find answers and rebuild the memory of their lost village.
The demo is available now on the Steam Page, offering an early look at the stunning visuals and innovative combat from Neat Corp, the developers behind the acclaimed Budget Cuts series.
