The eerie and unsettling world of the Backrooms is expanding. Escape the Backrooms, the popular co-op horror game, is officially leaving Early Access and launching its full 1.0 version on PC via Steam on October 23. This highly anticipated release promises a significant upgrade to the terrifying experience that has captivated over 90,000 players since its 2022 debut.

Developed by Fancy Games, with publishing support from Secret Mode, the game's premise remains a simple yet horrifying one: players and up to three friends must work together to navigate a labyrinth of liminal spaces, solve puzzles, and evade deadly entities. Proximity voice chat allows for communication with your team, but beware—the monsters can hear you, too.

The 1.0 launch introduces a wealth of new content to keep players on their toes. Four new levels will be added, bringing the total number of environments to over 50. Players can look forward to exploring sinister new areas like "Overgrowth," a source of the unsettling "Bacteria," and "Level 974," where you can get a closer look at the mysterious Kitty. The update also includes a new mission screen for easier return trips and a series of alternative endings for those who dare to uncover all the game's secrets.

Visuals have been enhanced across all existing levels, and new additions have been made to encourage repeat visits. This full release marks a new chapter for the game, which has earned a "Very Positive" rating on Steam. Now, with a team of developers and a new publisher, Escape the Backrooms is set to spread its unique brand of horror to an even wider audience.
