Fans of the long-running action RPG series have a new adventure to look forward to, as publisher NIS America has announced that Ys X: Proud Nordics is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 and PC in early 2026. This definitive edition of the latest Ys title promises to expand on the acclaimed original with a host of new features, storylines, and a challenging high-difficulty dungeon.
The game thrusts players back into the boots of the iconic red-haired adventurer, Adol Christin. After a dramatic encounter at sea, Adol finds himself mysteriously bound to the proud Norman warrior Karja. The two must set aside their differences to face a new, terrifying threat: a horde of immortal undead known as the Griegr, who are ravaging the beautiful Obelia Gulf. Aboard their ship, the Sandras, they will gather a crew of allies to navigate treacherous waters and combat the looming darkness.
Ys X: Proud Nordics builds on the fast-paced combat and engaging narrative the series is known for. The definitive edition will offer new gameplay mechanics and a brand-new storyline seamlessly woven into the main quest, giving players both new and old an exciting reason to dive back into the world of Ys.
This release will be available on PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and GOG, as well as on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. The game will include text language support in English, French, German, and Spanish, with both English and Japanese audio options.
Developed by Nihon Falcom Corporation, Ys X: Proud Nordics is set to deliver another thrilling chapter in Adol’s legendary journey, packed with memorable characters, high-stakes combat, and a compelling narrative that will keep players on the edge of their seats.
